It's November already! It's getting cold as shit here in Iowa and we are staying busy as all hell with all sorts of goodies for you guys!
First and foremost we would like to formally announce that our EP 'The Great and the Alleged Great' is being released on 12" vinyl. Our buddy Bob over at Mayfly Records is helping us put it out. Darius "Qojak" Carr will be doing the artwork for the record and will also be doing an etching on the reverse side of the vinyl, it should look pretty amazing! The vinyl will also come with a digital download through Mayfly Records. Pre orders will be up next month some time, we will be sure to let you know as soon as we find out. The record release show is slated for Thursday February 11th in Cedar Falls, IA and will also be our full US tour kick off.
Next, we would like to announce that the good people over at Yellow Brick Magazine will have a feature about Former Thieves in next months magazine. We even took shnazzy promo pictures for it, proving that we are some what photogenic. The magazine is free and you should be able to pick it up at all Hot Topics, Guitar Centers, and anywhere else of musical significance around Iowa, or just go to their website and view the magazine in it's entirety for FREE! So go pick up a copy, or go to the site and check out our ugly mugs!!
We also will be doing a radio takeover on Generic Insight Radio this month. Generic Insight Radio is a free internet radio show ran by our dear friend Barrie based out of New York City. We will post the date it will air in the next few days. We get an hour to play some of our music and basically whatever the hell else we feel is legitimate. Expect plenty of awkward small talk, some hip hop oldies, and a bunch of off the wall shit. It should be pretty awesome!
Next, we are doing a week long tour in about three weeks with Touche Amore all across the Midwest. Most the shows are in basements, which is going to be amazing!! Come check out this amazing band and come say Hi to us!! It's during the Thanksgiving holiday, so a few of the shows are potlucks, bring some mashed potatoes!
Also, we got asked to play Festivus for the Restivus Fest 2009 up in Milwaukee on December 28th. There is some amazing bands playing, like La Dispute, Red Knife Lottery, and Native just to name a few. Come sport your new Christmas sweater at this awesome fest!We are also writing a bunch and have been playing a bunch of new songs at shows, so come on out and check out some new tunes, we are heading into the studio the first week of December to demo about 5 or 6 songs, so we are working on those night and day. We are also putting in an order for merch next week, so come on out to some shows and pick up some new gear, we should have a Big Cartel merch site set up soon as well.
Other than that, life is good. We are still working on booking our full US tour so if you want to see us in your town, more than likely we will be through Feb-April, shoot us an email and let us know, so we can work on setting something up.
